COACHELLA VALLEY REPERTORY
May, 2010

Dear Theatre Lover,

April turned out to be an amazing month of growth for CV REP!

We obtained a major grant from the Wells Fargo Foundation toward our Children’s Outreach Production.  I am also thrilled to announce a continued partnership with the Palm Springs Art Museum/Annenberg Theater through which we will present our Children’s Outreach Production to school children throughout the Coachella Valley next season. We also made plans for a huge fundraiser in the fall in partnership with another non-profit organization, the AIDS Assistance Program of Palm Springs. We had two successful fundraisers in April, one hosted by the Mission Hills Senior Living and the other by the Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa.

The CV REP Board of Trustees is going full speed ahead making the 2010-2011season our time to move into the next level of development. We have taken our time from the start at being fiscally and creatively responsible at staying on track with our mission to bring theatre of substance that makes a difference in our community one show at a time!

A special thank you to our business partners and you for believing in CV REP and supporting our efforts.

Sincerely,
Ron Celona
Artistic Director

In The News

WELLS FARGO FOUNDATION

In our first season, the Wells Fargo Bank gave us the support of $5,000. Helping us to produce our first Children’s Outreach Production, Our Dad is in Atlantis.

This month we are thrilled to share that the Wells Fargo Foundation will be continuing their support by becoming the title sponsor of next season’s Children’s Outreach Production with their donation of $15,000. Wow!

As if that wasn’t enough, they also pledged to support CV REP by purchasing tickets that would fill the seats of a theatre for one night of the run at a CV REP Main Stage Production.

We are grateful to have Wells Fargo leading the way to our future!!

FUNDRAISING TREE GIVEN ROOTS

On April 22nd, EARTH DAY, the Mission Hills Senior Living facility sponsored a WINE TASTING that raised $600 dollars in 2 hours! The exiting event gave roots to our fundraising tree. Each leaf added to its branches will represent $1000 toward our goal to produce a Main Stage Production in the 2010-2011season. We are excited to watch it grow.

Based on the funding that we raise within the next six months, we will be able to determine the type of main stage production possible. Here is where YOU come in…please go to our website at www.cvrep.org and help us add leaves to our fundraising tree by making a generous donation of any size! Help make our tree grow and track our progress!!!

LUMINARY LUNCHEON continues to be a success!

What can you say about Shecky Greene? TALENT, TALENT, TALENT!  Not only a comedian but a great singer too!

All in attendance at the April 28th Luminary Luncheon enjoyed a beautifully presented lunch at BLU Ember’s private dining room followed by a presentation by Board president, Gary Hall and Artistic Director, Ron Celona  who shared CV REP’s mission, vision and goals. Ron introduced the guest artist, Shecky Greene and interviewer, VJ Hume. Shecky was amazing and as always had the group laughing throughout.  We know him as a comedian but the guests got to also see what a terrific singer and actor he is…doing impersonations of great actors in the business that he has worked with throughout his career.

We are grateful for all the raffle prizes donated by the Beauty Basket, Mission Hills Senior Living and the Aqua Caliente Hotel & Casino.

Please note: Our next LUMINARY LUNCHEON is set for June 23rd at noon. The guest artist will be announced in your June Newsletter and a special e-blast flyer.

What are the CV REP LUMINARIES?

The CV REP Luminaries are a new social/booster group. This group will help light the way to CV REP’s future. With the support of our sponsor, the Rancho Las Palmas Resort and Spa, the monthly events are held at the BLU Ember. Each luncheon includes a Luminary of the Theatre who will share their life experience working as an actor.

A portion of the fee will pay for your meal, refreshments, entertainment and the remainder will go to CV REP. The fee is only $25.00! A bargain for this fine restaurant!

DRAMA TO DRAG
Provincetown History meets Palm Springs’ Future.

SAVE THE DATE!!

On October 7th, CV REP will present in partnership with the AIDS Assistance Program of Palm Springs, DRAMA to DRAG, Provincetown History meets Palm Springs’ Future. This exciting event will showcase the work of historic playwrights who wrote some of America’s most famous plays while spending their summers in Provincetown.  The evening will also feature a sensational performance by the KINSEY SICKS.

Wish List

As you can see, our Wish List has not changed since we still need all of the following support. There are numerous ways, large and small, you can help support our growth. If we don’t ask, we don’t receive!

  1. We are still looking for a donated public space to operate our organization out of. At present we have been doing business from a home based office. If we have a public space we can start to staff it with volunteers who are waiting in the wings.
  2. Grant Writer, although Board Members are hard at work writing grants, they can always use the support of other volunteers that have this skill under their belt.
  3. Committee Members, each Board member is steering a committee on different development opportunities. If you would be interested in serving on one of these committees, please contact Board President, Gary Hall at Gary.D.Hall@wellsfargo.com for more information.
