COACHELLA VALLEY REPERTORY
October, 2010

Dear Friends of CV REP,

Our first BIG fundraiser was an artistic success but not as financially successful as the Board and I had hoped it would have been. Those in attendance enjoyed our host/narrator of the evening, Broadway star, Danny Gurwin who did a terrific job taking us back in time with the history of Provincetown theater and the Provincetown Playhouse in NY as well as introducing each play that our company of professional actors presented. Each scene was diverse in style and period and showed the audience what we are capable of producing. The evening continued with local drag group, Les Originals who did a wonderful job at getting the audience in the spirit of fun and light fare…which led us to the Kinsey Sicks who entertained the crowd from beginning to end with edgy, campy and fun parodies. By all accounts the standing ovation at the end proved that we were a hit with our event!

The Board of Trustees has formed a new Fundraising Committee and is actively working on how to obtain the needed funding to produce a play this season. If you are interested in being a part of this committee, please contract Gary Hall, Board President.

The CV REP Actors Conservatory is in the process of regrouping to promote our classes in a more effective way. We did not meet the minimum requirement to get off the ground running. Each class requires a minimum of 5 students to proceed as it is not cost effective for the teacher unless we have this requirement met. Our teachers are waiting in the wings to proceed.

On October 27th, CV REP will present another stimulating Luminary Luncheon. This month’s Guest Artist is Patricia Morison, luminary of Stage, TV & Film. She will be interviewed by John Bowab, Stage, TV & Film Director. Look forward to see you there!

Sincerely,
Ron Celona
Artistic Director

What are the CV REP LUMINARIES?

The CV REP Luminaries are a new social/booster group. This group helps to light the way to CV REP’s future. With the support of our sponsor, the Rancho Las Palmas Resort and Spa, the monthly events are held at the BLU Ember. Each luncheon includes a Luminary of the Theatre who will share their life experience working as an actor.

A portion of the fee will pay for your meal, refreshments, entertainment and the remainder will go to CV REP. The fee is only $25.00! A bargain for this fine restaurant!

TANGO (Milonga) DANCE

As a way of supporting CV REP, every other Friday night there is a TANGO (Milonga) DANCE held at the Desert Dance Academy in Palm Springs. It is a great way to spend a Friday night out doing something quite different. Whether it is listening to the Argentine music, watching the dancers strut their stuff or having the nerve to get up and try it yourself, this is a great way to spend a few hours on a Friday night.
Please contact CV REP for scheduled dances.

FUNDRAISING PRODUCTION TREE GROWS!

Please consider this summer helping our tree grow more leaves so that it will be strong enough to produce a Main Stage Production in the 2010-2011season.

The funding that we raise this summer will determine the type of production possible. Will it be a thought provoking Play or a Musical? We have both on the table and depending on how many leaves we could grow we will be able to determine what is possible…please go to our website at www.cvrep.org and add a leaf to our tree! Your name will be added to its roots. Help make our tree grow!!

WISH LIST
There are numerous ways, large and small, that you could help support our growth. If we don’t ask, we don’t receive!

  1. Grant Writer- Although the Board Members are hard at work writing grants, they could use the support of other volunteers that have this skill under their belt.
