COACHELLA VALLEY REPERTORY
June, 2010

Dear Theatre Lover,

Welcome to the summer 2010!

Even though it’s hot outside that isn’t stopping the CV REP Board and I from working hard inside to grow and prosper. We are pleased to welcome two new Board members to our Board of Trustees, Sidney R. Craig & Carol Buzzard. I look forward to sharing more information about our new Board members in the Board member profile section of our newsletter in July and August.

One of the goals for CV REP was to obtain a space to hold theater classes, workshops and rehearsals for upcoming productions and that space has been found. In keeping with our mission to partner with other businesses and non-profits, beginning this summer CV REP will partner with the Desert Dance Academy located in the Rim Rock Shopping Center in Palm Springs.  We will keep you posted on all the developing programs that are in the making.

We are also working on our October 7th fundraiser, “DRAMA to DRAG: Provincetown History Meets Palm Springs’ Future” in partnership with the AIDS Assistance Program of Palm Springs. We have chosen a venue, the HOTEL ZOSO. Tickets will go on sale the first week of August and can be purchased through AAP at www.aidsassistance.org  The host/narrator for the evening will be the exceptionally talented and charismatic Broadway actor/singer, Danny Gurwin.

Be sure to mark your calendar for the BIG event!!

Sincerely,

Sincerely,
Ron Celona
Artistic Director

CAPTAIN LOUIE set to open at the Annenberg Theater

CV REP’s Children’s Outreach Production will be a musical called CAPTAIN LOUIE by Stephen Schwartz (Godspell, Pippen & Wicked). Once again CV REP will partner with the education department of the Palm Springs Art Museum to present an educational and entertaining musical which will be presented in the spring of 2011 at the Annenberg Theater. It is our plan to bus children from schools throughout the Coachella Valley to experience this inspiring production.

This is made possible in part by a generous grant from the Wells Fargo Foundation.

What are the CV REP LUMINARIES?

The CV REP Luminaries are a new social/booster group. This group will help light the way to CV REP’s future. With the support of our sponsor, the Rancho Las Palmas Resort and Spa, the monthly events are held at the BLU Ember. Each luncheon includes a Luminary of the Theatre who will share their life experience working as an actor.

A portion of the fee will pay for your meal, refreshments, entertainment and the remainder will go to CV REP. The fee is only $25.00! A bargain for this fine restaurant!

Wish List

As you can see, our Wish List has not changed since we still need all of the following support. There are numerous ways, large and small, you can help support our growth. If we don’t ask, we don’t receive!

  1. Grant Writer, although Board Members are hard at work writing grants, they can always use the support of other volunteers that have this skill under their belt.
