COACHELLA VALLEY REPERTORY
August, 2010

C E L E B R A T E ! !

Yippee! It’s time to celebrate CV REP’s accomplishments. CV REP turns 2 years old this month and wow look how fast we’re growing.

We may have started out slow with one production in our first year and one production in our second year, but our Board is taking strategic steps in assuring us the success to grow in these difficult economic times so that CV REP will be a GRAND success for our community’s future. This coming season it is our goal to produce two productions, CAPTAIN LOUIE , a children’s musical in partnership with the Palm Springs Art Museum as well as a Main Stage Play for adults. In addition to producing a few fundraising events which are productions in themselves!

As I shared in the July e-letter, this summer has been one of growth for us. We’ve starting our first educational programs at our new shared space with the DESERT DANCE ACADEMY. We have created several partnerships with accomplished teachers lined up for the fall. The classes and workshops are designed for local actors to develop their talents and become stronger actors, singers and dancers.

We are also attracting local and out of town professional actors who will be participating in the CV REP ACTORS STUDIO, a place/home for them to work on their craft.

TANGO! That’s right, I said TANGO…if you would like to try a FUN and healthy way of keeping in shape and meeting new friends, join us at the DESERT DANCE ACADEMY. CV REP is hosting a Milonga (Social Dance) every Friday night beginning on August 27th. For more details, please see article below.

Sincerely,
Ron Celona
Artistic Director

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CV REP!!

It’s our 2nd birthday and we invite you to celebrate with us at our next LUMINARY LUNCHEON, August 25th with guest artist, star of Broadway & TV, actress/singer Nancy Dussault.

She will be interviewed by local radio host and actress, VJ Hume.
Our Luminary Luncheons are always a celebration but this one will be especially exciting with lots of surprises in store!!

For reservations, please call Audrey Provan at 760-341-7442

What are the CV REP LUMINARIES?

The CV REP Luminaries are a new social/booster group. This group helps to light the way to CV REP’s future. With the support of our sponsor, the Rancho Las Palmas Resort and Spa, the monthly events are held at the BLU Ember. Each luncheon includes a Luminary of the Theatre who will share their life experience working as an actor.

A portion of the fee will pay for your meal, refreshments, entertainment and the remainder will go to CV REP. The fee is only $25.00! A bargain for this fine restaurant!

FUDRAISING PRODUCTION TREE GROWS!

Please consider this summer helping our tree grow more leaves so that it will be strong enough to produce a Main Stage Production in the 2010-2011season.

The funding that we raise this summer will determine the type of production possible. Will it be a thought provoking Play or a Musical? We have both on the table and depending on how many leaves we could grow we will be able to determine what is possible…please go to our website at www.cvrep.org and add a leaf to our tree! Your name will be added to its roots. Help make our tree grow!!!

Board Member Profile

As promised we would like to introduce to one of our newest Board members, Carol Buzzard.

Carol Buzzard has lived in the desert for about twelve years coming from Orange County where she lived most of her life.  She has served on several boards of directors for non-profits in our community during this time.

Carol has one son living in Orange, Ca and has two granddaughters (the loves of her life). Her work background has most always been involved with some type of finance.  When she moved to the desert she joined MetLife and then New York Life as a financial advisor.

Carol says she now has the best of occupations she has ever had.  She has been with Wells Fargo Bank for over six years as a Reverse Mortgage Consultant.  A reverse mortgage is for seniors (age 62 or  more) where they can use their equity in their home to obtain income and never make a payment as long as they live in their home.  Credit and income are not an issue, only the equity.

Carol is looking forward to being involved with the CV Rep and is available to help wherever she can.
